About this game

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced is Rockstar’s rebuilt version of the game that basically shaped a decade of open-world crime fiction. You’re following three very different guys, a hustler trying to climb, a bank robber who thought he was out, and a genuinely unhinged wildcard, as their paths collide over a string of heists in a city that’s happy to eat all of them alive. If you played the original GTAV years ago, this is that same story and that same Los Santos, just running on modern hardware with the visual and technical upgrades that version never had.

How it plays

The single-player campaign has you switching between the three protagonists to pull off heists, which means planning jobs, picking approaches, and living with the fallout when things go sideways, all set against a sprawling city and countryside you can just as easily ignore in favor of driving around and causing trouble. On the technical side, this Enhanced edition adds ray tracing options (ambient occlusion, global illumination, shadows and reflections), upscaling support through FSR and DLSS, faster load times on SSD-equipped machines, and improved audio fidelity. If you’ve got existing progress from the older PC version, there’s a one-time migration path to bring your story save and GTA Online character over. Speaking of which, GTA Online is included here too, covering everything released for it since launch: heists, races, adversary modes, criminal enterprises, and the social spaces that come with running your own operation alongside up to 30 other players.

Who it’s for

This is for anyone who wants a satirical, sprawling crime story with real production value behind it, or who’s been meaning to sink time into GTA Online without missing years of added content. It also makes sense for returning players who want the game to actually look like it was made this decade. It’s less of a fit if you’ve already burned yourself out on GTAV across its many previous releases, or if open-world crime satire just isn’t your thing, no amount of ray tracing changes what the game fundamentally is.

Is it worth it?

For what you’re getting, a full campaign built around three playable leads plus a live online mode that’s still being fed new content years on, this holds up as a lot of game for one purchase. The single-player alone is a meaty, well-paced ride, and GTA Online can absorb as much time as you’re willing to give it. If you’ve been on the fence, this is exactly the kind of title worth waiting for a discount on, since the core experience isn’t going anywhere and a lower price just makes the eventual online grind easier to stomach.
