About this game
How it plays
You’re stepping into the boots of Robert, a voyageur sent to figure out what happened to two fur traders who vanished from their post in the Canadian wilderness. This is a point-and-click adventure in the old sense of the term: you walk through hand-crafted scenes, click on things that look suspicious, pick up items, and figure out how they connect. There’s no combat, no reflex tests, just careful looking and thinking. The developers have said the game leans on Scratches and The Dark Eye as touchstones, which tells you a lot about the pacing and mood they’re going for: slow, atmospheric, unsettling rather than jump-scary. At around 45 minutes, it’s built to be finished in one sitting, so the puzzle chain is compact rather than sprawling. It also works as a lead-in to a longer follow-up game set in the same world, so there’s a sense that you’re getting the opening chapter of something bigger rather than a fully closed story.
Who it’s for
If you grew up on Sierra and LucasArts-style adventures, or you’ve got a soft spot for quiet horror that works through dread and atmosphere instead of monsters jumping out at you, this is squarely aimed at you. Fans of historical settings will also get something out of it, since a fur-trading outpost in Lower Canada in 1814 isn’t a backdrop you see very often in games. It’s also a reasonable pick if you want a complete, self-contained horror story you can play in a single evening without committing to a ten-hour campaign. On the other hand, if you need action, combat, or fast-paced gameplay to stay engaged, or if traditional inventory-based puzzle solving makes you impatient, this one probably isn’t going to click. It’s a small, deliberate experience, not a showcase of scope.
Is it worth it?
For what it is, a short, focused horror point-and-click from a small studio, the value comes down to whether you want a tight, atmospheric story more than a long playtime. It’s not the kind of game you measure in hours-per-dollar, it’s the kind you play once for the mood and the mystery. That makes it a pretty natural sale pickup: it’s not a game you need to have on day one, but it’s an easy addition to a backlog of short narrative games, especially if you’re also curious about the larger game it sets up. If you like the sound of the premise, it’s low-risk and doesn’t ask much of your time to find out if it’s for you.
