How it plays

You’re behind the counter of a gas station, and the job is exactly as mundane as it sounds at first. Restock the shelves, keep the place from looking like a dumpster, take deliveries when the truck shows up, and hit your sales numbers before the shift ends. Then it stops being mundane. Some of the people walking through your door aren’t people at all, and it’s on you to catch them. That means checking IDs, running details against the store computer, and paying attention to how a customer acts while they’re standing at the counter. Let someone slip through who shouldn’t have, and they’ll be back later that same shift looking for payback. You can act on your suspicion and take a customer out on the spot, but you’d better be right, and you’d better clean up the evidence afterward. Since every shift is randomly generated, you can’t memorize a script and coast. If a creature does get loose, management sim gives way to survival horror: you’re boarding up entrances, laying traps, and finding somewhere to hide while hoping you did enough to make it to close. The whole thing is built around a Story Mode made up of thirteen of these randomized shifts, and it leans hard into multiplayer, with proximity chat meant to make working the counter with friends (or arguing about who let the doppelganger walk out) part of the fun.

Who it’s for

If you like the idea of a chill management loop that occasionally turns on you, this hits a nice sweet spot between something like a retail sim and a horror game. It’s especially built for playing with a couple of friends, since the proximity chat and the shared stakes of a shift going wrong sound like the actual draw here. If you mostly play solo and don’t love tension or jump-scare-adjacent horror beats, this probably isn’t your thing, and if you need a game with a huge sprawling map or deep combat systems, a single gas station counter is going to feel small. But if “customer service, except one of them might kill you” sounds like a fun Friday night with friends, it’s worth a look.

Is it worth it?

For what’s essentially a co-op party horror game with a management hook, the value comes down to how much mileage you get out of randomized shifts and the social chaos of playing with friends rather than a sprawling single-player campaign. That’s the kind of game that tends to be best enjoyed in short, repeated bursts rather than one long solo binge, which also makes it a natural pickup during a sale rather than an impulse buy at full price. If you’ve got a regular group who’s into horror-comedy nights, it’s an easy recommendation once the price is right. Going in solo expecting a long campaign is where you’re more likely to be disappointed, so know what you’re getting before you commit.
