Steam’s refund policy is one of the best consumer protections in gaming — if you use it correctly. Two hours of playtime and 14 days from purchase are the magic numbers. Steam refund rules (India included)
Steam applies the same refund policy to INR purchases as USD accounts:
- Within 14 days of purchase.
- Under 2 hours of total playtime on that title.
- Refund goes to Steam Wallet by default; original payment method if wallet is unavailable.
- DLC refunds require base game playtime to stay under limits (varies — read the refund page).
How to request a refund
- Open Steam → Help → Steam Support.
- Select the game → I would like a refund.
- Choose a reason (does not need to be dramatic — “performance issues” or “did not run” is fine).
- Submit and wait for email — usually 24–48 hours.
When refunds get approved
