Zomborg drops you into a quarantine zone in the year 2000, playing a mercenary sent in after the United Nations lost an entire medical team trying to figure out what’s turning the local population into reanimated corpses. It’s a straightforward premise dressed up with a bit of outbreak-thriller flavor, and the appeal here is less about story and more about the promise of clearing out huge, screen-filling hordes of the undead while your squad watches your back.

How it plays

You build out a character and head into the quarantine zone armed with one of ten available weapon types, picking up cash along the way to buy better gear as you go. The zombie counts are the headline feature: the game is built to throw as many as 100 infected onto the screen at once, so a lot of the moment-to-moment tension comes from managing crowds rather than one-on-one encounters. You’re not doing this solo, either. You choose AI teammates to bring along, and picking the right combination for your playstyle is part of the strategy layer the genre tags promise, alongside the more straightforward action and adventure beats of just surviving each outing.

Who it’s for

This one’s aimed squarely at players who like the specific fantasy of standing your ground against an overwhelming wall of zombies and mowing through it with upgraded weapons. If you enjoy horde-shooter chaos, tinkering with loadouts, and building a small AI squad around your own approach to a fight, there’s a clear target audience here. If you’re after a heavily story-driven survival horror experience, tight resource scarcity, or slick modern production values, this indie effort from GameDevLab is going to feel modest by comparison. It reads as a game built around one strong mechanical hook rather than a broad, systems-heavy experience.

Is it worth grabbing?

For zero cost and a small amount of drive space, it’s an easy addition to a backlog, especially if zombie survival action is a genre you already gravitate toward. It’s not going to replace the genre’s bigger names, but as a free pickup it costs you nothing to find out whether the large-scale horde combat and squad picks click for you. Players chasing a quick, mindless crowd-clearing session will probably get the most mileage out of it, while anyone hoping for depth beyond that core loop should treat it as a curiosity rather than a must-own.
