Viking Rage

Viking Rage puts you inside a Norse village under siege, arming you with axes, bombs, and bows instead of a mouse and keyboard. It’s a tower defense game built specifically for virtual reality, so instead of clicking on waves of enemies from a bird’s eye view, you’re standing in the middle of the fight, physically flinging weapons at trolls, kobolds, and whatever else Arvur decided should come crawling out of the wilderness to knock down your walls.

How it plays

There’s no fast-clicking or menu-juggling here. Defense comes down to your own aim and timing, and how well you manage the space around you as enemies close in from multiple directions. It’s a game about physical reaction as much as strategic placement, which is the twist that separates it from a standard tower defense title.

This one is built for VR owners who like their tower defense with a bit of adrenaline mixed in, especially anyone who enjoys the novelty of physically swinging and throwing rather than pointing and clicking. The Viking and fantasy monster theming gives it a light, playful tone rather than anything grim or self-serious, so it suits players who want a casual session rather than a deep strategy grind. If you don’t own VR hardware, there’s not much here for you, since the whole design revolves around motion controls. And if you’re after a tower defense game with heavy base-building, tech trees, or long-term progression systems, this is a leaner, more arcade-flavored experience than that.

Is it worth grabbing?

For VR headset owners, this is an easy one to add to the library. It’s a small, focused game rather than a sprawling epic, and that’s fine for what it’s trying to do: give you a reason to grab a bow or an axe in VR and actually feel like you’re defending something. Casual players who want short bursts of physical, reactive gameplay will get the most out of it, and Viking mythology fans will appreciate the setting even if it’s played more for fun than accuracy. Anyone expecting a lengthy campaign or deep systems should temper expectations, since the appeal here is mostly in the moment-to-moment feel of the combat. As a free pickup, there’s very little reason for VR owners to pass on it.
