Alone With You

About this free game

Alone With You is a small, moody sci-fi adventure about being the only person left on a planet that’s about to be destroyed, and the AI and holograms who keep you company while you figure out why everyone else is gone. It’s a game built around loneliness and connection at the same time, which is a stranger and more interesting combination than it sounds. BancyCo built it as an obvious throwback to Sega CD era adventure games, and that visual identity does a lot of the emotional heavy lifting here.

How it plays

Your main tool is a scanner, and you’ll use it to poke around a dying colony looking for clues about what happened to the people who lived there. Each day sends you exploring the environment with an AI companion narrating and reacting alongside you, piecing together fragments of more than two dozen separate lives. At night, the pace shifts entirely: you spend time with holographic companions, talking through choices that shape how those relationships develop and how much of the colony’s backstory gets revealed to you. The missions are structured enough to feel like a proper campaign, but the branching conversations and multiple endings mean the story doesn’t play out the same way twice, so replaying it isn’t just repetition, it’s a genuinely different read on the same tragedy.

Who it’s for

This is a good fit if you like narrative-first adventure games where the puzzle solving exists to serve the story rather than the other way around, and if you have patience for a slower, dialogue-heavy pace. Fans of retro pixel and sprite aesthetics will probably get a kick out of the presentation, since it’s clearly made with real affection for that console era look rather than just using it as a gimmick. If you want fast action, mechanical depth, or a long campaign, this isn’t that game, and you should probably look elsewhere. It’s also worth going in knowing the emotional register leans melancholy: it’s more about grief and isolation than adrenaline.

Is it worth grabbing?

For anyone who already likes story-driven indie adventures, yes, this is an easy one to add to your library. It’s the kind of game that rewards a quiet evening rather than a long grinding session, and the multiple endings give it more replay value than its length would suggest on paper. If narrative games with romance and dialogue choices aren’t really your thing, you can safely pass without feeling like you’re missing something essential. But for the right player, someone who wants a short, atmospheric story with a distinct visual style, this is well worth having sitting in your library for when the mood strikes.
