About this game

Trippy Plains puts you in the seat of an FPV drone and lets you loose across a stack of wildly different worlds, from a neon-lit home map to a 1:1 recreation of Westminster to a fairground, a desert canyon, and a fractal dreamscape that folds in on itself. There’s no campaign forcing you through checkpoints and no skill tree gating what you can fly. You pick a craft, pick a map, and go.

How it plays

The loop is simple on paper: strap into a quad, take off, and fly. What makes it interesting is the variety underneath that simplicity. You’re not stuck with one type of drone. There’s a freestyle 5 inch quad for general flying, a stiffer racing build for speed, a collective-pitch helicopter for a completely different handling feel, and a tiny whoop for tight, technical spaces. Each one flies differently enough that switching crafts changes how you approach the same map. Some worlds lean into that freestyle instinct, like the industrial factory with its conveyors and turbines to weave through, or the abandoned resort with its crumbling pools and broken rooftops. Others are built for speed and precision, with dedicated race tracks that time your laps and let you chase your own ghost run. And a few, like the fractal world or the neon Tokyo streets, exist mostly to be flown through for the sheer visual trip of it. There’s also a sandbox space if you’d rather build your own course than fly someone else’s.

Who it’s for

This is a game for people who already know they like the idea of FPV flight, or who are curious about the hobby and want to try it without buying a real drone and crashing it into a fence on day one. If you get satisfaction from threading a gap at speed, nailing a smooth line through a tower, or just shaving a tenth of a second off a lap, this scratches that itch. It’s also a decent fit for anyone who wants a low-stakes way to unwind by flying somewhere pretty for twenty minutes. It’s not for you if you need a story, progression systems, or other players to make a game feel worthwhile. There’s no mention of multiplayer here, and the appeal is entirely about the flying itself, so if that’s not enough on its own, this won’t convert you.

Is it worth it?

For the audience it’s built for, the value case is pretty straightforward. You’re getting ten aircraft with genuinely different handling and fifteen maps that each seem to have their own personality, rather than reskins of the same terrain. That’s a lot of room to spend time in without repeating yourself, especially if you enjoy going back to a favorite track to improve your time or exploring a new map just to see what’s in it. It’s the kind of simulation title that rewards patience and repetition rather than one that’s over in a weekend, which makes it a natural pickup when it’s discounted. If you’re on the fence, waiting for a sale is a reasonable call, but if FPV flying is already your thing, it’s worth having in your library regardless of when you grab it.
