Stay: Ember’s Desktop Adventures is exactly what it sounds like: a virtual dog that lives on your desktop instead of in a game world. Windup Minds built her around a rules-based AI system rather than a chatbot gimmick, so she’s less “talk to me” and more “watch me exist alongside you.” The whole pitch is low-key by design. It’s a companion for the hours you spend staring at spreadsheets and browser tabs, not a game you sit down and beat.
How it plays
There’s no campaign or objective here. Ember sits on your screen, reacts to what your cursor is doing, and cycles through her own moods and needs like hunger, rest, and boredom. You check in on her the way you’d check in on a real pet: pet her, feed her, toss her a toy, dress her up in unlockable accessories. When you need to focus, you can tell her to settle down and nap in a corner instead of bugging your cursor mid-Zoom call.
