Something to Drink?

I'm Tom and I just got a job as a bartender. Now I have to wipe down the same sticky counters where I used to leave my own marks. In this dive, even the rats look like they're hungover. Alright, the boozers won't pour their own drinks - time to get back to work.

About this game

Something to Drink? puts you behind the bar in a 2D pixel art tavern where your only job is to keep the regulars from ever going sober. It sounds like a cozy little management game until you actually start pouring, and then it turns into something stranger: a bartending simulator with a personality problem, in the best way. The hook isn’t just mixing drinks, it’s dealing with the people you’re mixing them for.

How it plays

You start simple. Beers, shots, the basics that any new hire could pull off without thinking too hard. As shifts go on, the orders get more ambitious and you start building out actual cocktails, reading what a customer wants and figuring out how to make it from whatever’s behind the counter. There’s a real sense of progression baked into the job itself: what felt impossible on night one becomes muscle memory a few shifts later, and mixing something unexpected that still lands right feels like you earned it. Layered on top of the pouring and mixing is a steady stream of customers who don’t just order and leave. People act up, situations escalate, and you’re occasionally forced to make a call on how to handle it. That’s the part that turns a tidy pouring loop into something with actual texture, since the job isn’t just the drinks, it’s everyone standing on the other side of the bar.

Who it’s for

If you like low stakes management sims (the Cook, Serve, Delicious or PC Building Simulator crowd) and want one with more dialogue and character than usual, this is worth a look. It’ll also appeal to anyone who enjoys games about mundane jobs that turn out to have hidden depth, since the pixel art bar setting does a lot of work making a repetitive job feel lived in. If you want deep systems, branching narrative, or a long campaign, temper your expectations. This reads like a game built around one focused idea (serve drinks, deal with people) rather than a sprawling life sim, so go in wanting a tight, character driven loop rather than a huge world.

Is it worth it?

For what it is, a small-scope indie sim with a clear identity and a sense of humor about its own premise, it’s the kind of game that’s easy to recommend to the right person and easy to pass on if the concept doesn’t grab you. It isn’t trying to be your only game for the next hundred hours, it’s trying to be a good hangout session, and it mostly succeeds at that. Games like this tend to be best picked up when the price feels low relative to how much you already want it, so if bartending sims are your thing, it’s a solid one to grab whenever it’s discounted rather than something you need to pay full price for on day one.
