About this game

Power and Glory is a 2D action RPG that starts you off as nobody in particular. Pick a Laborer, a Farmer, or an Acolyte, and instead of some prophesied chosen-one setup, you’re just a person trying to survive dungeons, fights, and the choices that come with both. The hook here is the climb itself: how you build your character and what you decide to do with the power you pick up along the way says more about your playthrough than any cutscene would.

How it plays

The loop is straightforward on paper: dive into dungeons, fight enemies, dodge traps, and walk out with loot and experience. What you do with that experience is where the game opens up. Skills and items shape how your character actually fights, so a Laborer build can end up feeling nothing like an Acolyte build by the time you’re a dozen runs deep. Combat is built around 2D action, meaning it wants you reacting and moving rather than parking in one spot and trading hits. Outside the fighting, dialogue and story choices tie into three factions, so who you side with and how you talk your way through situations has some weight beyond flavor text. With dozens of dungeons, dozens of skills, and over a hundred items in the mix, the itemization and build variety are clearly meant to be the long game here, not the combat alone.

Who it’s for

If you like action RPGs where the fun comes from theorycrafting a build and then testing it in real combat, this is squarely aimed at you. Fans of loot-driven dungeon crawlers who don’t mind a 2D perspective should feel right at home, especially if you enjoy replaying with a different starting origin just to see how differently things play out. It’s also a reasonable pick for players who want some narrative texture (dialogue, factions, consequences) without a massive story commitment. On the flip side, if you need big-budget production values or a sprawling open world to stay engaged, or if 2D action combat isn’t your thing, you’ll probably bounce off it fast.

Is it worth it?

For the kind of player who enjoys replaying an RPG with different builds and starting points, there’s real value in a game that leans this hard into origins, skills, and itemization. The replayability angle (three origins, build variety, dungeon variation) suggests it’s designed to be played more than once, which matters if you’re weighing cost against hours logged. As a solo developer and publisher project, it’s the type of game that rewards curiosity more than a flashy trailer would suggest, and it’s the kind of title that makes a lot of sense to pick up when it’s discounted rather than rushing in at full price on day one.
