About this game

Pax Autocratica asks a blunt question up front: what kind of dictator are you going to be? It’s a colony sim crossed with a first-person shooter roguelite, and the twist is that both halves feed each other. You run a totalitarian settlement by day, deciding whether citizens are kept in line through propaganda and fear or through comfort and prosperity, then you take those same citizens (or troops built from them) into gun battles that start small and escalate into full mechanized warfare. It’s a strange combination on paper, and that strangeness is the hook.

How it plays

On the colony side, you’re assigning people to mine, gather, haul, research, and manufacture, turning a handful of survivors into a functioning, self-sustaining base. Every policy you enact nudges how your citizens feel about you, and that emotional state matters: loyal citizens work differently than fearful or quietly rebellious ones. Outside the colony walls, you lead expeditions into the Tyris System’s fractured territories to grab resources, conscript new people, and trade with merchants you meet along the way. Those expeditions turn into first-person roguelite runs where you and your squad fight through enemy ships and battlefields packed with infantry, tanks, and mechs, picking up cores that change how your weapons behave or how your troops perform. Enemies you weaken can be dragged home and processed through interrogation, indoctrination, or worse, which loops back into how your colony grows and how the next run plays out.

Who it’s for

If you’ve put real hours into colony management games and also miss FPS combat that those games rarely offer, this is aimed squarely at you. The satirical, morally uncomfortable framing will land well with players who liked the tone of games that let you build something oppressive and then sit with what that means. Roguelite fans who enjoy chasing build synergies across runs have a reason to stick around too. It’s probably not for players who want a tightly polished, single-genre experience right now, since this is Early Access and still finding its final shape, and it’s not for anyone hoping for a lighthearted management game without the darker undercurrent running through it.

Is it worth it?

For the specific crowd that wants colony management and shooter combat stitched together, there isn’t much else doing exactly this, and that novelty carries real weight even while the game is still being built out in Early Access. Go in expecting rough edges and features that will keep evolving, not a finished product. If the hybrid pitch appeals to you, it’s the kind of game worth picking up when it’s discounted rather than paying full price on day one, since Early Access titles tend to improve and often get cheaper deals over time as they mature. Keep an eye on it during sales and let the developer’s post-launch support guide when you jump in.
