About this game

How it plays

Lysfanga is a top-down action game built around a time-rewind mechanic that’s less about dodging bullets and more about building your own private army out of yourself. You step into an arena as Imë, fight for a few seconds, then rewind and watch a “remnant” of your past self repeat those exact actions while you take control again and layer on a new sequence. Do that enough times and you’re coordinating a small squad of past-you’s against the Raxes, the demons that got loose when the old time-locks broke. It’s a neat twist on action-strategy: you’re not reacting in real time so much as choreographing a loop and then executing it well enough that your past self doesn’t get you killed. Between fights, you move through the formerly sealed cities picking up new weapons and spells, and the game leans into replaying arenas for better scores under harder rules and added modifiers, so there’s a puzzle-box, optimize-the-run quality sitting underneath the combat.

Who it’s for

This is a good fit if you like games that reward planning as much as reflexes, think Hades or SUPERHOT crossed with a tactics mindset, and you don’t mind replaying the same encounter several times to find the sequence that clicks. If you enjoy min-maxing a build, chasing high scores, or just like the puzzle of “how do I beat myself,” Lysfanga scratches that itch. It’s probably not for you if you want pure twitch combat with no planning layer, or if replaying short arenas over and over to refine a strategy sounds tedious rather than satisfying. The fantasy setting and demon-horde framing are serviceable but clearly secondary to the mechanical hook.

Is it worth it?

For the kind of player who gets a kick out of systems that ask you to out-think yourself, this is the sort of game that’s easy to recommend picking up when it’s discounted. It’s a smaller, mechanically focused indie rather than a sprawling epic, so the value proposition is really about how much you enjoy the loop-and-rewind combat itself, since that’s what the whole game hangs on. If that premise sounds fun in the first five minutes of reading about it, it tends to stay fun across the arenas and difficulty modifiers. It’s not the kind of game you need at full price to appreciate, but it’s a very comfortable one to grab on sale and sink a weekend into.
