Krater puts you in charge of a squad of freelancers dropped at the edge of a massive impact crater in a future, post-apocalyptic Sweden, where three factions are scrapping over whatever technology is buried underneath. You direct your team from an overhead, real-time view rather than controlling one character directly, which gives fights a tactical, almost RTS-like feel even though everything is happening live rather than turn by turn. Between fights, you’re managing gear, crafting items and abilities, and working through quests both in the crater-adjacent settlements and down in the Underside, the sprawling network of caves and tunnels beneath it. Your characters actually persist and grow: they level up, learn new abilities, and improve their stats over time, but they can also pick up injuries or worse if you’re careless, so the campaign has a bit of real weight to its risk-taking. The story campaign can be played solo, and there’s also a separate set of co-op missions built specifically for playing with friends, including tougher boss fights whose loot carries back into your main game.

This one’s for people who like squad-based RPGs with a strategic edge and don’t mind a game that leans into loot-driven crafting and gradual character progression rather than twitch reflexes.
