About this game

Friday Night drops you into a mansion where your family was murdered, armed with nothing but a camcorder and a voice you can actually use to talk to whatever else is in the house. It’s a first person horror adventure built around the idea that recording the truth matters more than fighting back, and that alone gives it a different rhythm than the usual jump scare gauntlet.

How it plays

You explore the mansion room by room, camcorder in hand, documenting what you find rather than arming yourself against it. The voice recognition system lets you speak directly to the game, asking questions out loud to whatever presence is sharing the house with you, which is a neat way to make a one way haunted house conversation feel two way. Along the way you dig through drawers, paintings, and bookcases for newspaper clippings and notes your brother left behind, piecing together what actually happened to your family before you got there. Scattered through the mansion are puzzles left over from your family’s own attempts to keep something out, and solving them is how you push deeper into the story. It’s an investigation game at heart: you’re not managing inventory or fighting monsters, you’re reading, listening, and recording.

Who it’s for

This one is for people who like slow burn horror built on atmosphere and mystery rather than combat or chase sequences. If you enjoy games where the tension comes from not knowing what’s behind the next door, and you don’t mind talking to your microphone to move the story forward, the voice recognition angle is a genuine hook rather than a gimmick. It’s also a good fit if you like piecing together a narrative from scattered documents instead of being told everything upfront. If you want action, weapons, or a game with a lot of systems to master, this isn’t that. It’s a narrow, story focused experience, and going in expecting a simulation or adventure game with horror dressing rather than a survival horror shooter will set you up right.

Is it worth it?

For the kind of player who wants a contained, atmospheric horror story to sit with for an evening, this is the sort of title that earns its keep through mood and mechanics you don’t see often, especially the voice interaction. It’s not the kind of game you’ll sink dozens of hours into, so go in expecting a focused experience rather than a sprawling one. Games like this tend to be an easy yes when they’re discounted, since the appeal is very specific (you’ll know from the premise whether the hook grabs you) and a lower price removes the risk of trying something a little different from the usual horror formula.
