Arkanoid: Eternal Battle keeps the fundamentals every fan already knows: a paddle, a ball, and a wall of blocks you chip away at run after run. There are two solo modes to choose between. Retro leans hard into nostalgia with a vintage arcade cabinet presentation, while Neo is the modernized take, adding new power-ups and new block types on top of the same familiar bounce-and-break rhythm. If you have people over, Versus lets two to four players go head to head on a split screen (you’ll need controllers for that one). The real headline, though, is Eternal Battle, an online mode that puts a battle royale spin on the formula: everyone starts on their own board, and it’s a war of attrition until one paddle is left standing. Champions bring special powers into the mix, which changes the calculus from “don’t drop the ball” to something closer to active sabotage and survival.

Who it’s for

This one is really for two overlapping crowds. If you grew up with a version of Arkanoid or just love the genre’s simple, immediate satisfaction, the Retro and Neo modes give you that fix without much of a learning curve.
