About this game

Jet Kave Adventure takes the most tired setup in gaming, caveman versus the world, and bolts a jetpack onto it. You play Kave, a tribal chief who gets kicked out of his own village and then stumbles onto alien tech that turns him into the island’s only real shot at survival. It’s a goofy premise played with a straight face, and that mix of prehistoric grunting and sci-fi hardware is what gives this 2.5D platformer its personality.

How it plays

The core of the game is momentum. You’re jetting through side-scrolling levels that mix platforming hazards with pockets of exploration, and the jetpack itself takes some getting used to since Kave doesn’t control like a nimble platforming hero, he controls like a caveman who just learned to fly. Combat leans on a bone club for close-range scraps against a rotating cast of prehistoric enemies, building up to dedicated flight sequences and boss encounters where you’re dodging and weaving as much as fighting. Along the way there are collectibles to hunt down that feed into upgrades, so exploring the corners of each level actually pays off instead of just padding playtime. For players who want more friction, there’s an arcade mode that strips away the safety net: limited lives, no health refills at checkpoints, and extra lives you can only buy between levels. Layered on top of the main campaign are timed, collectible, and no-damage challenges with online leaderboards, which is where the game shows its hand as something built for replaying levels and shaving down times rather than a one-and-done story romp.
