About this game

BOMBANANA! is a three-player co-op game built entirely around a simple, mean idea: split up the information needed to defuse a bomb, then split up the senses each player gets to use. One monkey can touch the bomb but not see it. One can see everything but hear nothing. One holds the manual but can’t speak a word of it out loud. From there, it’s on you and two other people to figure out how to actually communicate before the timer runs out.

How it plays

Each round drops your trio in front of a bomb, and every player only has a piece of the puzzle. The blind monkey feels the wires and buttons but can’t read colors or screens. The deaf monkey watches the bomb and can see teammates gesturing, but catches none of the actual chatter. The mute monkey has read the disposal manual cover to cover and knows exactly what to do, except telling anyone is off the table. Lefto Studio doesn’t hand you a communication system for this; there’s an emote wheel, gestures, pointing, waving, and apparently slapping is in there too, but how you actually get information across the table is entirely up to your group to invent on the fly. You can play through a 30-level campaign that ramps up in difficulty, jump into an endless mode with procedurally generated waves for when you just want to keep going, or build your own scenario by tweaking the timer, bomb difficulty, hazards, and how many mistakes you’re allowed. Different bombs bring different modules to solve, and environments change up the pressure too, since a power outage or a loud distraction mid-defusal changes how you’re able to talk to each other in the first place.

Who it’s for

This is squarely a party game for a specific number of people: exactly three. If you’ve got a regular trio of friends, a sibling group, or a couple plus one, and you like games that turn communication itself into the obstacle (think the spirit of games like Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, but with each player’s own senses cut off instead of a shared manual), this is going to land. It’s less fun as a solo experience or with a group that can’t easily rope in exactly two other people, since the asymmetric roles are the whole design. If your group gets frustrated easily or takes losing personally, be warned: this game is engineered to produce disagreements.

Is it worth it?

For what it is, a focused party game that leans on repeat sessions with the same small group rather than a long solo campaign, the value comes down to how often you can actually get three people in a room or a voice call together. If that’s a regular occurrence for you, a 30-level campaign plus endless and custom modes gives you a lot of room to keep coming back. It’s the kind of game that’s easy to recommend picking up when it’s discounted, since its appeal is really tied to specific game nights rather than something you’ll sink hours into alone.
