You’re dropped onto hostile planets in squads of up to four, and the whole thing runs on tension between chaos and coordination. You’ll call in stratagems (airstrikes, turrets, resupply drops) by punching in directional codes under fire, which sounds simple until you’re doing it while something enormous is charging at you. Loadouts range from stealthy and surgical to loud and explosive, and the game genuinely lets you pick your poison depending on the mission and how reckless your squad is feeling. Friendly fire is on, always, which means your stratagem barrage can just as easily wipe out your own team as the enemy horde. That’s not a bug people tolerate, it’s basically the whole personality of the game. Missions feed into a larger galactic war effort, so what your squad does on a given night actually nudges the broader campaign one way or another.
