How it plays

Qora drops you into a new village at the edge of a valley and lets you go find out what’s actually going on there. It’s a dialogue-and-exploration adventure game in the old-school mold: you walk around gorgeous hand-painted pixel environments, talk to the people who live there, and slowly piece together what the valley is hiding. Along the way you pick up a strange power that lets you interact with the world in ways the villagers can’t, which becomes your main tool for prying open the mysteries tucked into the landscape. There’s no combat to speak of here, no inventory puzzles stacked on top of each other. It’s paced like a story you’re walking through, and it rewards actually stopping to chat with people rather than beelining for objective markers. Multiple endings mean the choices you make (and maybe how thoroughly you explore) shape where the story lands, which gives it a reason to exist on your hard drive after the credits roll once.

Who it’s for

This is a game for people who miss the feel of classic adventure titles, the ones where atmosphere and dialogue did the heavy lifting instead of mechanical complexity. If you like games that hand you a mood and a mystery and trust you to sit with both, Qora is built for you.
