How it plays

This is old-school beat ’em up stuff, the kind of side-scrolling brawler where you walk right, enemies pile in from both sides, and you clear them out before the game lets you move on. You pick between an elf and an orc, and the game actually lets you swap between the two on the fly, which changes up your rhythm since each plays with a different weapon and feel (magic-leaning fire work for the elf, blunt axe-swinging brutality for the orc). Story mode strings together more than two dozen missions, and you can tune the difficulty across five settings depending on how much punishment you want. If you’d rather not go it alone, the co-op mode lets you build a squad of up to four and wade through the chaos together, and there’s an Endless mode for when you just want to see how long you can last against a dungeon full of enemies that keeps throwing more your way.
