About this game

ALTEREDBLOOD+ (AB+ for short) is a first-person shooter that treats gore as a tool instead of decoration. It’s a movement-focused FPS platformer from TRUEWORLD STUDIOS, and its big idea is simple: the blood you spill covers the arena, and that blood is the thing keeping you alive. If you’ve ever wished Doom’s aggression and Quake’s momentum tricks had a baby with Splatoon’s paint-the-level mentality, this is clearly what the developer had in mind.

How it plays

Every fight leaves a mess, and the mess matters. Damaging enemies splatters their blood onto the walls and floors around and behind them, and killing them bursts them into gibs that spread even more. That blood is a resource. Slide, dash, or stomp through it and you soak it up, which restores your health and ammo. So the loop is a kind of dance: hurt things, make a mess, then move through the mess to refuel before the next wave arrives.

Standing in blood also changes you. Your weapons become altered with stronger effects while you’re in it, and each gun has its own particular interaction with blood and movement. That makes positioning a real decision, not just a way to avoid getting shot.

Movement is the other half of the design. Bunny hopping, air-strafing, surfing, trimping, and rocket jumping all show up, drawing on classic FPS tech. There are Classic and Modern air-control settings, so you can pick the feel that suits you. The story is set inside MOTHER, a vast self-replicating megastructure, and you play the creature she made to deal with the parasites feeding on her.

There are two main modes. Story missions run you through varied spaces while introducing weapons and enemies, and Gravekeeper mode is a survival setup of relentless waves that uses the weapons you’ve unlocked. Both come with friends and global leaderboards.

Who it’s for

This is for players who like to get good at something. If you enjoy chasing cleaner routes, tighter movement, and leaderboard placements, the structure fits you well. Fans of boomer shooters and movement-heavy FPS games will probably feel at home right away.

If you prefer slower, cover-based shooting, or you don’t want to spend time learning movement systems, you may bounce off it. The skill ceiling looks high by design. Anyone who dislikes heavy gore should also skip it, since the whole concept revolves around it.

Is it worth it?

It’s an Early Access indie release, so expect content and polish to keep changing over time. That’s worth keeping in mind before you buy. For the right player, though, a game built around movement mastery and score chasing can hold your attention far longer than its campaign length suggests.

Because it’s an Early Access title, waiting for a Steam sale is a sensible way to try it with less commitment. If the idea clicks for you, it’s a solid pick to grab when it goes on sale. If you’re unsure, check the live price on this page and see how it sits against what you’d normally spend on an indie shooter.
