About this game
Cozy~Fishing Kitten is a small desktop idle game that wants to live in the corner of your screen while you do something else. You cast a line, shrink the window down, and let a pond full of fish, cats, and costumes accumulate in the background. It’s a slacking-off simulator in the most literal sense, and the whole pitch is that you’re supposed to feel a little bit sneaky about it.
How it plays
The loop is simple and low-pressure. You fish, and whatever you pull up goes into a big collection: common little fish, deep-sea creatures, and some oddballs the game seems proud of. Rare catches can be put on display in your aquarium, and there’s a large fish encyclopedia to fill in as you go. You can also travel between different fishing spots, so the scenery changes as you chase that “World Fishing Master” goal.
Collecting flotsam adds a second layer. It gives you resources and a chance at mysterious eggs, and those eggs hatch into cats. Stack more cats on an egg and it hatches faster, which gives your growing cat roster an actual job. There are dozens of cats to gather.
Then there’s the dress-up side. You can customize your character, and there’s a brush tool for drawing your own original character if you feel like it. Over 200 outfits and scene decorations are available to collect, with gacha capsules offering a shot at the ultra-rare ones. Online rooms let you fish and chat with other players, or invite friends to share catches and trade outfits.
The window is freely resizable and movable, so it’s built to sit beside your real work rather than demand your full attention.
Who it’s for
This suits people who like collection-driven idle games and don’t need constant input to feel progress. If you enjoy filling out encyclopedias, hatching things, and picking out outfits, the structure will probably click. The multiplayer rooms also make it a decent excuse to hang out with friends without committing to a proper session.
Skip it if you want challenge, tight mechanics, or a game that rewards skill. This is about gentle accumulation. The gacha capsules are also worth knowing about up front if that style of rarity chase isn’t your thing, though the facts I have don’t say how aggressively anything is monetized, so check the store page.
Is it worth it?
For the right player, a game like this earns its keep through sheer time spent in the background. It’s not something you’ll play intensely for hours, but a cozy idle title that runs quietly while you work can deliver a lot of low-effort enjoyment. That makes it a good candidate for a sale: it’s easy to justify a small impulse purchase on something that asks so little of you. If you’re curious but unsure, waiting for a discount is a sensible move. If the cat-and-outfit collecting already sounds appealing, it’s a comfortable pick-up.
