About this game

Trolley Dilemma takes the famous philosophy-class thought experiment and turns it into an adventure you actually play. You keep a trolley moving, and every time it reaches a switch you have to decide who pays the price. The twist is that the choices don’t vanish once you make them. They follow you, shape the people around you, and slowly change the kind of person you turn out to be.

How it plays

The game is built around a steady run of moral crossroads. You meet a large cast of side characters (the developer promises more than thirty), and for each one you get to decide whether to save them or let them go. Those decisions aren’t throwaway. Someone you rescue might help you down the line, while someone you sacrificed could come back to haunt the journey.

Conflicts also change depending on who is opposing you and who is standing beside you. The same kind of fight can feel different from one run to the next, because your allies and enemies are partly a product of what you did earlier. You can lean toward outlaws, put your faith in the scientists, hold onto your conscience, or go after power no matter the cost. Nothing in the pitch suggests there is one correct path, so the appeal is in seeing where each philosophy leads.

Who it’s for

If you like narrative games where choices carry weight, this is aimed squarely at you. It suits people who enjoy replaying a story to see how a different attitude changes things, and who get a kick out of uncomfortable questions rather than clean heroics. The Casual and Indie tags suggest something approachable rather than a punishing systems-heavy experience, so you probably don’t need to be a veteran of the genre.

Skip it if you want deep mechanical challenge or a story that always lets you be the good guy. This is a game about tradeoffs and regret, and some players will find that tiring rather than compelling. If moral dilemmas stress you out in games, you’ll feel that here.

Is it worth it?

For the right player, probably yes. Branching stories with a big cast and consequences that echo are the kind of thing that justifies a second or third playthrough, and that’s where a lot of the value in a game like this sits. Seven Level Games is an indie studio, so expect something focused and personal rather than a sprawling blockbuster.

It’s also a natural pick to wait for a Steam sale on. Since the draw is trying different moral paths, you’ll get the most out of it if you’re happy to go back in, and a discount makes that experiment easier to commit to. If the premise grabs you straight away, there’s no harm in not waiting, but nobody would blame you for watching for a deal.
